Amnesia 03:25
Now wait, just a minute Ain't there somewhere I'm supposed to be? My day's just beginning Probably people out waiting for me But my mind's gone blank completely erased It's like I fell down and hit my head I still won't listen to all my friends I only hear what you said You give me amnesia baby And I can't remember why I only wanna please you baby But no matter how hard I try You're making me forget all about what I've gotta do But it just don't matter, long as I'm right here with you After all those hard times You've given me such relief Took the weight off my mind Without those memories So many lonely nights spent by myself It's like they've all gone and vaporized Those hard won fights I can't recall When I look into your eyes You give me amnesia baby And I can't remember why I only wanna please you baby But no matter how hard I try You're making me forget all about what I've gotta do But it just don't matter, long as I'm right here with you Oh you give me amnesia baby And I can't remember why I only wanna please you baby But no matter how hard I try You're making me forget all about what I've gotta do But it just don't matter, long as I'm right here with you

Whiskey 04:22
Well I always thought I'd be happy Living life easy come, easy go I used to think nothing could go wrong But I can't believe that anymore But whiskey will solve all my troubles As I get drunk at the end of the day Stumble on home once again sleep alone Not dream of it any other way Whiskey will make all my bills disappear And make everyone think I'm a saint Now you might find that hard to believe When you know that I sure as hell ain't But whiskey will come to my funeral And read such a sweet eulogy They'll sing one more song, know that I'm really gone On my grave pour one last sip for me Look on down at a half full glass See all of those wasted years flow past If I make it through one more night No matter what you think still nothin' will ever go right Well that whiskey's been running me over And kicking me straight down the stairs As I limp down the street all beat up and bruised Trying to find somebody who cares But whiskey will make me feel better Let me sleep through the light of the day And when things start to slip I'll just have one more sip Make all that pain fade away Yeah whiskey will make me feel happy Or at least feel like I don't care When you turn the lights on I'll already be gone Falling drunk down the road somewhere Whiskey will solve all my troubles As I fall back down on my knees Wake up on the floor just the same as before Oh whiskey you're all that I need Look on down at a half full glass See all of those wasted years flow past If I make it through one more night No matter what you think still nothin' will ever go right

Words 03:41
Why didn't ya tell me, what you were thinkin' all along? All the words you kept inside Why couldn't you see that I could be just as wrong But you just look and sigh Why don't the words come out? Why don't the words come out? Why don't the words come out? So I was already driving 60 miles away On that 27 highway down in Mississippi And then I saw you standing way out in the field As that delta sun went down Why didn't the words come out? Why didn't the words come out? Why didn't the words come out? Why didn't the words come out? Why didn't the words come out? Why didn't the words come out? And soon another day was passing by And I was feelin' oh so sad to leave And still I wonder if it's worth a try To say what I wish I could see Still the words won't come out They just won't come out Still the words won't come out Ah

I know that she's no good for me, but I've got a crush on her I'll do anything that she wants even though I know it's wrong They all say "she'll break your heart", but I can't help myself I give in to all her charms, she drives me wild But you shoulda seen the way she walks Like she just don't care at all She's the kinda girl I can't resist I know she's gonna make fall Oh she's gonna make me fall Oh now what can I do? She's got a hold on me She's taking up all my time when I should be be letting go And I thought that I was strong, but I just can't say no So now, I'll just sit back and enjoy the ride But you shoulda seen the way she walks Like she just don't care at all And I just can't resist Though I know she's gonna make fall Oh she's gonna make me fall She says that she's all mine And there's nobody else And I know I'm not her only one But I won't tell that to myself You shoulda seen the way she walks Oh she just don't care at all She's the kinda girl I can't resist I know she's gonna make fall Yeah you shoulda seen the way she walks Woah she just don't care at all And I just can't resist Though I know she's gonna make fall Oh she's gonna make me fall

about

Mississippi Delta Dreaming: A Multi-part EP Series Inspired by the Mississippi Delta

I recently decided to start writing some material for a series of recordings that will explore the musical styles of various regions connected by the Mississippi River.  The series is entitled “Mississippi Delta Dreaming”, and will cover Memphis, Arkansas, Mississippi, and New Orleans. These deeply rooted and rich musical traditions are the ones that have most deeply affected my development as a musician and songwriter over the past 14 years of living in and exploring the American South. It is my hope that these recordings will pay homage to the great artists who came from these places, and that inspiration will continue to flow from this region, like the deep river that flows through it.

Part 1 - Memphis:
In February of 2020, on Mardi Gras, I had the privilege of recording 5 songs at the historic American Recording Studio (built in 1967 and formerly part of the famous American Sound Studios) in Memphis with an incredible crew of Memphis musicians and recording engineers. Over the years the studio hosted sessions by seminal artists who were vital in establishing the unique “Memphis Sound” including many from Stax Records, and even Elvis Presley. I also had the pleasure of working with the multi-talented and hilarious, Ori Naftaly, bandleader of the Grammy-nominated Memphis blues band, Southern Avenue, who is serving as producer for this project. The songs we recorded are four Memphis-inspired originals and one classic Memphis cover that I’m sure you all will recognize, albeit with a bit more Crescent City flavor thrown in.
